Me to we
If there are any typos in today’s post, you’ll have to pardon me. I was up at 5:00 a.m. to get my son to the bus on time. He and some classmates from school left early this morning to go to Montreal for We Day. This event, started by Craig Keilburger’s foundation, Free the Children, celebrates the power of young people to create positive change.
The youth spend the day in a rock concert atmosphere listening to presentations and performances by inspirational community leaders. The one-day event encourages year-round action. Attendance is free, but each school group that attends makes a commitment to be a “We School in Action.” The groups commit to learning about local and international issues and taking steps to effect change.
All is One
We Day opens the eyes of young people to their power. It takes them from “me” to “we,” because, really, there is no “me.” We’re all in this together.
If you have a “We School in Action” in your area, give them your support. We want our leaders of tomorrow to ripple positively through the world.
